Participation in the Montessori Model United Nations has been a tradition at Village Gate since its inception. It is a privelege and a rich opportunity for learning and for making a difference in the world, and we ask that you take the experience seriously. It is also an opportunity for fun and adventure--exploring the Big Apple with friends is exciting and will broaden your vision of the world. We ask that you take advantage of this chance to experience New York (and Washington, DC) with full engagement. This means enjoying yourself, but also handling yourself with respect for others and open-mindedness to new experiences. Embrace visiting a museum and tasting a new kind of food, for example.
To prepare for the trip we ask that you make every effort to do your best work. There is lots of learning to be done, and the more focus you give the prepatory work,, the better your experience and learning once we get to New York will be. Use the handouts you are given and explore the sites below as the start to your research. Be sure also to consult the citation guidelines so that you are using and recording reliable sources. Have fun, learn a lot, and make a difference!
